Chokai no Mori

Chokai no Mori is a scenic spot that affords a panoramic view of the Shonai Plain, Mogami River, and Japan Sea. It is especially well known for being a beautiful location to watch the sunset, and is also a great place for a picnic. Visitors are encouraged to try hiking along the walkway to view the fall foliage or go for a hike with a forest guide to hear about plants and animals. *Chokai no Mori has been chosen as a recommended scenic spot by Yamagata Keikan Monogatari (introduces scenic spots in Yamagata prefecture).

Access: Approx. 40 min. by car from JR Sakata Station; approx. 30 min. by car via Nihonkai-Tohoku Expy. (Sakata Chuo IC)
Parking: 3 parking areas; 400 spaces
